Formerly the Waine’e Church; originally built in 1823, and destroyed and rebuilt several times over the years, the last in 1988, when it was renamed “Wailoa.” The church is significant in that Keopuolani, wife of Kamehameha I and mother of Kamehameha II and Kamehameha III, converted to Christianity here. There is also an ancient cemetery located adjacent to the church, the Wailoa Cemetery, where Hawaiian royalty and early missionaries are buried.
